![]() ![]() # providing not inside bufferbloat refractory period # bufferbloat and high load detected so decrease rate and take into account pseudo capacity estimate In the second approach I classify the download and uupload 'load condition' as either:Īnd then switch according to: case $load_condition in I can't easily switch to different ISP because their cell tower is within line of sight from my house in a rural area with only copper at 6Mbit/s or so. ![]() I'd probably still maintain encryption since I don't trust Vodafone UK not to do more messing about in dependence on the packets (what happened to net neutrality?), and also because I use a Huawei LTE router in bridge mode (so feel more comfortable with it mostly working with encrypted packets, save for Netflix and Prime packets that are necessarily non-encrypted these days given Netflix/Prime's dislike of VPNs given (ab?)use by users to access content in other countries). I think I mainly need VPN to switch data to a different port, since Vodafone UK selectively throttle on ports 80 and 443. ![]() ![]() My experience with NordVPN has been extremely positive, at least for my sub 100Mbit/s, circa 40ms latency use case. I don't really know how performance of something like NordVPN compares with typical VPS servers in terms of throughput and latency. Perhaps I will ditch my NordVPN account in favour of VPS. VPS renders OWD approach more attractive, but there is still no official package in OpenWrt that does a proper job with ICMP type 13, unless I am mistaken? got far with hping3, but it's still not an official package and I lack the skills to make it one. ![]()
